hands-on Astronomy for educators Workshop (2, 9, 16 december 2020)hOnline Workshop on Stellar Photometry with LCO (2-4 pm IST, 8 - 9 October 2022) We plan a two-day online workshop on observations with the Las Cumbres Observatory to understand photometry and standardization which can be used to observe variable stars, star clusters , etc. This program is planned for serious amateur and young aspiring professional astronomers. We shall have detailed presentations on magnitude scales, extinction, photometry, the BANZAI pipeline and standarization. There will be hands-on sessions on using TopCat and jupyter notebooks with LCO data. Using astronomy as a tool is most effective since astronomy incorporates various disciplines in science like
mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology. The workshop will be valuable for teachers who are keen to find new and innovative ways of making science more engaging.
In order to not interfere with online classes, sessions will be held on 30 and 31 October afternoons from 2 -5 pm
The course will be conducted via Zoom. Links will be sent to participants in advance. Participants will also receive kits for the hands-on sessions and Certificates on completion.
